Games 1&2 of the Quarterfinals were played over the weekend in Weyburn which saw the North Stars being the only lower seed team to earn the split over the weekend to have the series tied at 1-1.
Friday’s game 1 saw 7 goals from both teams and only 2 of them were at even strength, North Stars scored by way of a penalty shot from Elijah Anderson in the 1st period of the game to end the 1st period 1-0. Second period Weyburn came out firing to score 4 goals in the 2nd period to change the tables to 4-1 Weyburn. North Stars then went onto score a 5 on 3 power play goal and then Ivashchenko was able to net a shorthanded goal but there was not enough time left in the game to tie it up.

Game 2 saw a different Battlefords team come out flying in the 1st period to take a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, Weyburn came out flying a notched a quick one less than a minute into the 2nd. Where less than 5 minutes later Battlefords moved back into their 3 goal lead with Getzlaff’s second of the night and finish out 40 minutes of play up 4-1. Weyburn would bring some excitement with a early 3rd period goal to bring it with in 2 but ultimately Granger would send home an empty netter with just under 2 minutes remaining where the game would finish 5-2 and the series tied at 1-1.
