North Stars Win 48 of 58 Games in 2016-17 the Season

By Battlefords North Stars, 03/07/17, 6:45PM CST

The Battlefords North Stars wrapped up the 2016-17 regular season with back-to-back shutouts against their division rival. On Friday, the Stars traveled to Kindersley and blanked the Klippers 6-0; while on Saturday, the Stars finished the regular season off at home with a 5-0 win against the Klippers.

The North Stars have set an all-time SJHL record for fewest goals allowed in a season, at just 103 goals. The previous record for fewest goals allowed was 113 held by the 2007-08 Humboldt Broncos. The North Stars have also set franchise records for most points (97) and most wins (48) in a single season.

The North Stars have gotten some recognition on the national stage as well. They finish the year with the best GAA in the CJHL at 1.77. In the final CJHL Rankings of the season, the Stars earned 5th in the country.

The wait is now on to see who the Stars' first playoff match will be against. Having clinched 1st overall, the Stars will get a bye into the quarter finals and will face the lowest remaining seed following the survivor series. Their opponent will be either Kindersley, Weyburn, or Melfort.

While we may not know who the Stars first playoff opponent is, we do know that the North Stars have had another amazing year. The Battlefords North Stars want to thank the community for the strong support throughout this season. We could not do it without you and look forward to your continued support throughout playoffs!

Stay tuned for playoff details and announcements of ticket sales!
