The North Stars shared a home and home pre-season game with the Bonnyville Pontiacs where both home teams saw themselves come out victorious on home ice. With camp concluding September 7th the North Stars had a quick day turnaround before their first exhibition games against the Pontiacs who were just closing out their pre-season action. The Stars started their pre-season action slighly behind the ball dropping their first game 6-2 with goals from Drew Williamson & Cole Hines early in the 3rd when they started to find their groove but it was too little too late. The Stars looked to bounce back at home and they did with a 5-2 victory on home ice in front of their first crowd of the season and their only home pre-season game at the ACC. Drew Williamson scored half way through the 1st period to get the Stars on board with Bonnyville tying it up in the dying minutes of the 1st period. The 2nd period saw one lone goal from newcomer Raiden Zacharias assisted by vets Granger & Knittig to regain their lead in the game. The stars posted 3 more goals in the 3rd period from Sam Kirwan, Linken Fisher & an empty net goal from Gavin Granger to end the game. Samborski and Serpa split net time for the game with Samborski saving 22/23 shots and Serpa 16/17. The Stars now look to their final 2 pre-season games against the Lloydminister Bobcats with a home and neutral site game. The Stars will head to Lloyd September 12th with a 7pm puck drop and then head to Thunderchild First Nation September 14th for a neutral site game with a 2pm puck drop.
