North Battleford, SK- The Battlefords North Stars will have a new head coach for the 2024-25 season as Brayden Klimosko has accepted a new Head Coach and GM position.
“It’s always hard to lose an incredible coach like Brayden, we wish nothing but the best for him and his family and thank him for the 6 outstanding years he gave the club” said Kyle Kellgren North Stars President and GM. Klimosko sits atop the standings for wins and championships as a North Stars Head Coach with a total of 199 regular season wins, 2 SJHL Championships, a National Silver Medal as well as 3 time SJHL Coach of the Year and 2023 CJHL Coach of the Year.
The 36-year-old from Humboldt, SK got his first head coaching position with the North Stars in 2018. The North Stars went 199-64-18-8 under Klimosko’s coaching over 5 full seasons and a covid season. His playoff record is also the highest of any North Stars Coach boasting a 33-11-3 record.
“I would like to thank the Battlefords North Stars organization for an unforgettable 6 years! The North Stars gave me the opportunity to be a Head Coach in this league and I will forever be thankful” said Klimosko on his time in North Battleford. “I would like to thank the board, my staff over the seasons, Marty and Jay in the booth, the fans and of course all the players who wore black and silver during my time here. You have all truly made this one of the best places to play Junior A hockey in North America! To the Battlefords community… “You welcome and embraced our family in from the very beginning, there is so many people to thank for that I don’t know where to start or end, so thank you!” In his final remarks as Head Coach of the Battlefords North Stars, “I want to end this by saying 6 years ago I would have never thought a move back to Humboldt would be so hard, but the friendships, the organization and community have made this the hardest decision I have ever had to make”
