The stage was set last night for playoff game #4 against the Melville Millionaires with the potential for the Stars to close out the series with a 4-0 record and they were able to do just that shortly into the 1st OT period!
Melville was able to strike first again last night in the 1st period at the 7:21 mark but unlike the night prior we were able to get on the board roughly a minute and a half later with a goal from veteran Bradley Blake at 9:29, this resulted in the 1st period ending at a 1-1 tie which then carried over to the end of the 2nd period with no scoring to report there thanks to both goaltenders standing on their heads! 3rd period saw the Stars take the lead first with a goal from Hunter Burgeson assisted by Evan Waldie & Tanner Gold at 6:10 but similiar to the story of the 1st period roughly a minute and a half later Melville’s Euan Morrison would send one in at 7:38 to bring the game to a 2-2 tie which is where we saw the 3rd period come to a close. Next up was OT Melville had an unbelivable record of 3 on 3 OT in regular season the difference being in playoffs it is now a whole period of 5 on 5 hockey. OT was fast paced of back and forth chances with both goaltenders not willing to take any chances on rebounds or loose pucks. In an odd man rush down the ice Grill send the feed to Anderson and Anderson to Williams who would send it in to the back of the net for his 1st ever SJHL playoff goal in only his 2nd game back since an injury at 5:06 to end the game and cap the series win with a 4-0 record against the Melville Millionaires!
Now the Stars rest up and practice up to get ready to see who they will face in the Semi Finals, the only other series all done is Flin Flon vs Kindersley with Flin Flon moving on to the semis as well. Will we have a rematch of last years second round against the Mustangs? A rematch of last years Championship round against the Bombers? Or the playoff round everyone has been begging for of the Broncos? Only time will tell, pay attention to all our socials to find out who our opponent will be and when our next home games will be!
